OUTSTANDING PLEDGES

OUTSTANDING PLEDGES

Where an event incorporates pledging, it is important to remember that each uncollected pledge represents an account receivable to your group and must be collected after the event.

In order to reduce the level of receivables, ask your participants to collect pledges in advance if any are lump sum donations unrelated to the performance of the participant at the event.

So, for example, if a supporter offers to pledge a flat $5 regardless of the number of laps walked in an event, collect the $5 then and there, if possible.

The event chairperson must ensure that someone is assigned the tedious task of ensuring that all outstanding pledges are collected and handed in by the participants.
